Enter the length and dimensions of your joints to calculate the sealant needed.

How to use it

  1. Measure the total length of the joints you are going to seal.
  2. Set the joint width and depth in millimetres.
  3. Check the cartridge size and read how many you need.

What it works out and how

Sealant volume is that of a rectangular bead: length times width times depth. With the length in metres converted to millimetres, the result in millilitres is length × width × depth divided by 1000. That volume is divided by the cartridge content (300 ml by default) and rounded up. A 5 × 5 mm joint uses about 25 ml per metre.

Frequently asked questions

How many metres does one cartridge cover?

It depends on the cross-section. With a 5 × 5 mm joint, a 300 ml cartridge covers about 12 metres; at 10 × 10 mm, only about 3.

Which sealant should I use in the bathroom?

Sanitary silicone with fungicide, which resists mould. For joints you plan to paint, use an acrylic sealant: silicone does not take paint.

Should I buy extra?

One spare cartridge is reasonable: some product always stays in the nozzle and the first few centimetres are usually wasted.
