How to use it

  1. Choose the oil type: mineral, semi-synthetic or synthetic.
  2. Set the distance you drive, the date of the last change and whether your driving is severe.
  3. Read when the next change is due, by distance or by time.

What it works out and how

The base interval is 5,000 km for mineral oil, 7,500 km for semi-synthetic and 12,000 km for synthetic. With severe driving, that interval is multiplied by 0.7. The tool also works out the time limit in months and tells you which of the two, kilometres or months, will be reached first, which is the one that applies.

Frequently asked questions

What counts as severe driving?

Short trips where the engine never warms up, stop-start city traffic, towing, dust or extreme temperatures.

Does it need changing even with low mileage?

Yes. Oil degrades with time, moisture and condensation. Changing it at least once a year is the usual advice.

Does this figure or the car's manual take priority?

The manual and the manufacturer's service schedule. These intervals are general guidance, and many modern cars calculate their own.
