Hreflang Validator
Free toolPaste your matrix of URLs and locales. Detect errors before you deploy, and copy correct hreflang tags in seconds. Everything is processed in your browser: nothing is uploaded to RA Software Apps servers, and the tool does not crawl or check your published URLs, it only validates the matrix you enter here.

Output only appears here once the matrix has no blocking errors.
How to use it
- Paste a CSV matrix with one row per URL: the address, its language or region code and, where it applies, the x-default flag.
- Review the errors and warnings: malformed codes, repeated locales, relative URLs or more than one row marked as x-default.
- Once no blocking errors remain, copy the generated hreflang tags and paste them into the head of every version of the page.
What it works out and how
The tool validates the matrix you enter, not your live site: it checks that every code follows the ISO 639-1 language format with an optional ISO 3166-1 region, that URLs are absolute, that no locale is duplicated and that there is a single x-default. It never crawls or requests your URLs, so it is meant for preparing the markup before you deploy.
Frequently asked questions
Is x-default required?
No, but it is recommended: it tells search engines which version to show to users who match none of the declared locales. Only one row per group of pages can be the x-default.
What does it mean that hreflang must be reciprocal?
If the Spanish page points to the English one, the English page has to point back. That is why the usual approach is to place the same full block of tags on every version, including a self-referencing tag.
Does it check that my URLs return 200?
No. It only validates the contents of the matrix. Whether the URLs respond and are indexable has to be verified separately, for example in Search Console.
