How to use it

  1. Enter the width and height of the available wall space.
  2. Set how many frames you will hang, their size and the gap between them.
  3. Review the suggested grid, with rows, columns and the overall size of the arrangement.

What it works out and how

The planner tries the possible row and column combinations for the number of frames given, works out the width and height of each arrangement including the gap between frames, and keeps the one that fits the wall best. It works with frames of the same size laid out in a grid; for free-form arrangements it is a starting point.

Frequently asked questions

What gap should I leave between frames?

Between 5 and 8 cm usually works. What matters is keeping it the same across the whole arrangement.

How high should I hang the arrangement?

The classic guideline is to put the centre of the group at eye level, around 145 to 150 cm from the floor.

How do I avoid drilling extra holes?

Cut paper templates the size of each frame, stick them to the wall with painter's tape and adjust before marking the holes.
