How to use it
- Enter the length and width of the room.
- Set the number of doors and their width.
- Adjust the waste and the length of each board, and read the linear metres and boards needed.
What it works out and how
The perimeter is worked out as 2 × (length + width), minus the width of each door, which defaults to 0.8 m. Waste (10% by default) is added to that length to cover the mitre cuts at corners, and the total is divided by the board length (2.4 m by default), rounding up.
Frequently asked questions
Why add waste if skirting is linear?
Every corner needs a 45-degree cut that loses a few centimetres, and short leftover pieces cannot always be reused.
What about columns or fitted wardrobes?
Add by hand the metres that projections add and subtract the stretches with no skirting, such as the front of a fitted wardrobe.
Is it worth buying longer boards?
If they fit in your car, yes: fewer joins on long walls and a cleaner finish.
