How to use it

Enter the perimeter or the measurements of the walls to paper, and their height.
Set the roll width and length and, if the paper has a pattern, the pattern repeat.
Subtract doors and windows if you want a tighter figure and read the rolls needed.

What it works out and how

First the tool works out how many vertical strips are needed: the wall length, minus openings, divided by the roll width and rounded up. Each strip measures the wall height plus the pattern repeat, so the design can be matched. It then checks how many whole strips come out of one roll and divides. The default roll is the European standard of 0.53 × 10.05 m.

Frequently asked questions

What is the pattern repeat?

The vertical distance after which the design repeats. The larger it is, the more paper is wasted lining each strip up with the previous one.

Should I subtract doors and windows?

Only if they are large. Many decorators subtract nothing: the surplus covers cutting mistakes and future repairs.

Does the batch number matter?

Yes. Buy all rolls from the same production batch, because colour can vary slightly between batches.
