What it works out and how
Grams of fragrance are the wax weight multiplied by the load percentage. If you start from the container volume, the wax weight comes from its density: 0.9 g/ml for soy and paraffin and 0.88 g/ml for a coconut-soy blend. For 500 g of wax at an 8% load you need 40 g of fragrance. The tool warns you if the load falls outside the 1 to 12% range.
Frequently asked questions
What load is typical?
Between 6 and 10% depending on the wax. The maximum each one takes is stated by the manufacturer and should not be exceeded.
What happens if I add too much fragrance?
The wax cannot hold it: the candle sweats oil, burns poorly and can be unsafe. More fragrance does not mean more scent.
Do I measure fragrance by weight or by volume?
Always by weight, on a scale. Oils have different densities and millilitres are not comparable.
