- Reading time per day:
How to use it
- Enter the number of pages in the book and, if you have started, the page you are on.
- Set your pace in pages per hour and how long you read per day, or the date you want to finish by.
- Read how many days it will take or how many pages a day you need.
What it works out and how
With a default pace of 40 pages per hour, the tool works out the reading hours left and spreads them over the time you read each day to give you a finish date. The other way round, if you set a deadline, it divides the remaining pages by the days available and tells you how many to read per day.
Frequently asked questions
What is a normal reading pace?
Between 30 and 50 pages per hour for fiction. A dense essay or a technical book can drop to 15 or 20.
How do I measure my own pace?
Read for 20 minutes with a timer, count the pages and multiply by three. Do it with the book you are going to read, not another one.
Is it better to read a little daily or a lot now and then?
For finishing books, consistency works best: 20 pages a day is over 7,000 a year, about twenty books.
