What it works out and how

Load volume is estimated by adding average values per item: 0.1 m³ per box, 1.5 per sofa, 2 per bed, 1.8 per wardrobe, 1 per appliance, 1.2 per table with chairs and 0.5 per bike. With the total, the tool suggests a van whose cargo area has enough capacity. Volume is not everything: also check the payload in kilos and that your longest piece fits.

Frequently asked questions

One large van or several trips?

For a short distance, two trips in a small van can be cheaper. Over long distances the large one pays off.

What licence do I need?

In Spain, a category B licence covers vans up to 3,500 kg maximum authorised mass, which includes most rental vans. Check the rules in your country.

How do I load a van properly?

Heavy items low and against the cab, tall furniture against the sides and strapped down, and boxes filling the gaps.
