Artificial grass calculator
Free toolAdd up the rectangular shapes of your garden (even if it is irregular), enter the roll width and calculate the linear meters you need to buy.
Surface shapes
If your garden is not a single rectangle, add several shapes and we will add up the total area.
Roll meters needed
How to use it
- Enter the length and width of each rectangular area; you can add several.
- Check the roll width and the waste percentage.
- Read the total square metres and the linear metres of roll to order.
What it works out and how
The tool adds up the area of all rectangles, adds the waste (10% by default) and divides by the roll width, which defaults to 2 metres, rounding up to the linear metre. Artificial grass is sold by the linear metre at a fixed width, so the figure that matters for the order is not the square metres.
Frequently asked questions
Why does pile direction matter?
All pieces must be laid with the pile facing the same way. Otherwise each strip reflects light differently and the seams show.
2-metre or 4-metre roll?
The 4-metre roll cuts down seams on wide areas, but it is heavier and harder to handle. Pick the one that leaves the fewest visible joins.
What else do I need?
Joining tape and adhesive for the seams, weed membrane and, depending on the installation, silica sand as ballast.
